Bears Safety Ruled Out For Remainder Of Season

Chicago Bears Safety Eddie Jackson Suffers Season-Ending Foot Injury

Bears Safety Ruled Out for Remainder of Season

Injury Adds to Instability on Bears Defense

Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2022 season due to a significant foot injury, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. Jackson suffered the injury in the second half of the Bears' 27-17 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, and tests revealed a Lisfranc injury, which typically involves damage to ligaments in the midfoot.

The injury is a major blow to the Bears' defense, as Jackson is one of their most experienced and talented players. He has been a Pro Bowl selection in each of the past two seasons and is considered one of the best safeties in the NFL. Jackson's absence will leave a significant void in the Bears' secondary, which has already struggled this season.

The Bears have now lost three of their first four games of the season, and the defense has been a major factor in their struggles. The Bears have allowed at least 27 points in each of their losses, and they rank near the bottom of the NFL in several defensive categories.

Jackson's injury is just the latest in a string of setbacks for the Bears' defense. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson has also been ruled out for the season with a torn ACL, and defensive end Robert Quinn has been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears are also without linebacker Roquan Smith, who is holding out for a new contract.

The Bears will now have to find a way to replace Jackson in their lineup. They could move cornerback Kyle Fuller to safety, or they could promote DeAndre Houston-Carson from the practice squad. The Bears could also look to sign a free agent safety, but there are few quality options available at this point in the season.
