Legendary Actor Receives Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Arthur

Legendary actor Bob Newhart, one of TV's most enduring stars with shows stretching back more than five decades, finally captured his first Emmy Award, causing him to weep with joy. The 84-year-old actor won for his guest role in the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

Newhart was honored at Sunday's Creative Arts Emmy ceremony for his appearance as Professor Proton in an episode last season. The Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series is Newhart's first Emmy Award in his long and successful career.
